Making the unfamiliar feel understandable

Once upon a time, way back in the 4th grade, I wrote a story about hang gliding, despite having never tried it.
It probably wasn’t a very good story, but my teacher humored me. “That was wonderful,” she wrote. “How long have you been hang gliding?”
That was the moment I fell in love with words.
I realized they could help people feel something they hadn’t experienced yet. They could make the unfamiliar feel understandable. They could change how someone saw the world.
I’ve spent the years since doing that for brands like SentinelOne, SurveyMonkey, Evernote, Rubrik, Druva, and Glassdoor — turning complex ideas into clear, useful, human stories across campaigns, web, video, social, long-form content, and brand systems.
I still believe the best writing does more than explain. It helps people recognize the thing they were trying to understand.
